Tonix in Montana: Groundbreaking Slated for Early 2022

Welcome to Hey What’s That Missoula. We’ll get you up to speed on all the dirt moving in and around Missoula.

The big news is in Hamilton, Montana, where Tonix Pharmaceuticals closed on a 43-acre parcel. The land will eventually house a vaccine development facility. It will create about 100 professional and support jobs. After the initial facility is constructed, there’s the potential for expansion and more jobs on the site.

Construction won’t start until late 2021. Our team was thrilled to help Tonix secure this location in the heart of a bioscience hub in the Bitterroot Valley.  The facility will join Rocky Mountain Labs and GSK.

Definitely an exciting development.

What Else is New?

In Missoula, it’s common knowledge that housing is in a pinch. But there is some good news on the horizon. Several larger housing developments are through permitting.

All up, we’re looking at around 200 new affordable units. The majority will be on Mullan Road between Broadway and Reserve. Another 72 units are going in on Cooley Street.

These units are part of a larger plan to create nearly 600 new affordable housing units over the next few years. We’re hopeful this strategy helps keep housing affordable and attainable.

And, the City Council adopted the Mullan Area Master Plan in mid-December. The County is likely to do the same at a later date. Altogether, this means progress towards more housing in Missoula.

Switching gears to a little retail therapy! And now, you can find vintage, mid century and unique furniture and decor just downtown. The new studio for Missoula Used Furniture is in the lower level of the Hammond Arcade building. That’s right off Caras Park.

After being at home so much this year, I think we’re all ready to get some new decor going.

Thanks for watching Hey, What’s That Missoula. Follow Sterling CRE Advisors for more development news.
