What Piques the Interest of Missoula Home Buyers? Check Out the Top Three Amenities.

As part of the HOME Report, we asked Missoula residents to identify their top three home amenities. Find out what ranked highest – and what they could do without.

Creating an ideal neighborhood requires a marketable mix of housing types and amenities. Missoulians expressed strong preferences on what they wanted their neighborhoods to look like: more coffee shops and breweries, with little demand for pools and golf courses. More respondents requested a dog park than were looking for a playground.

In keeping with Missoula’s abundant parks and access to national forests, open space ranked high on the list. One notable observation: respondents seem reliant on their cars. Parking was cited as a top three amenity for 32% of respondents, whereas only 8% cited proximity to public transit in the same ranking. Age played a role in preferences. Middle-aged buyers cited the most desire to be near retail- shopping, restaurants, and gyms.

Younger buyers were most concerned about parking. Older buyers wanted to be near open space and were most likely to prefer a rural location. Find more insights into Missoula home amenities preferences by downloading the HOME Report here.
